Throw pillows, curtains, placemats and centerpiece, art, throw rug....

I agree - I think you should pick a color that you love and put it everywhere you can in the room. You could use it on the sideboard, an art piece and pillows. You could get a coffee table and put some color on that, or change the sofa pillows and then get an ottoman in the same color. The throw rug is a good idea, too, maybe under the coffee table. You could recover the sofa cushions! Don't pick red.

I would pick a light/happy green or purple and get a rug that uses it as well as a few throw pillows in the same color. You might also change out the art in the room to include the same color rather than being so brown.

I think you need a bright, colourful, mod design rug. Pick up the accent colours in your cushions & artwork x

I would move the painting that is centered over your table more toward the windows, probably about 2-3 feet. A floor plant in the bit of wall that separates the two windows, a throw rug (round would be cool) in a deep colour like anthracite grey. Pull colours from the bricks to use as accents in your accessories like throw pillows, large ceramic pieces. Find a nice contrast to the reddish hues of the brick. I'm thinking of a lime green similar to the graphic in the art work over the table.

Since the tones are primarily warm in the room, it might be nice to add a cool color. I'm thinking a pale blue or a turquoise. Also agree that green would go well-- you have a lot of brown tones, so green is a logical choice for a fresh and earthy feel. It's a beautiful room, though, and I think it'll take well to anything as long as you love it.
